Your Smile and the World

smile-sydney-dentist-your-smile-and-the-world

A smile is like an emblem that gives out a conclusive confidence in anyone’s personality. Before, I have been very hesitant on whether to embrace smiling. I had a single moment of disbelief that anybody can learn how to smile better. Ever since I was a child, for many years, I practiced smiling in front of the mirror.  I mean that was a usual habit for a kid and I knew for a fact that most of us did the same. At first, I was reluctant to admit yet many had proven and during their entire life, it proves and confirms how powerful and compelling practicing a bit of smiling can be.

Smiling happens without much thought. When you see a friend do something silly or awkward, for sure you’ll have that smug look in your face. When a police officer let you loose without a ticket, you grin.  And when you are being recognized for your good achievements in school or at work, you beam like a star. Smiling is a natural reaction that reflects our joys in life and towards others.

A smile is like a virus contaminating every face it encounters and is somehow proven. There is that part of the brain that is responsible for our facial expression of smiling or mimicking or rather simulating. Another smile dwells in the limbic cortex, an unconscious automatic response area. So if you are smiling at someone, it’s likely they can’t help but smile back. But if they don’t, they are making a hard time to avoid it.

Every time we smile we give a little feel-good mood into our brain. The act of smiling triggers or stimulates neural messaging that benefits both your health and happiness. Have you ever wondered why Mona Lisa became one of the most famous paintings of all time? Unimaginable number of people asked themselves why in the past. And one possible answer is definitely because of her unique smile. It is in fact one simple smile that made it throughout the world and still making remarkable record in the history.

We may sometimes be forced to ride in unidentified cruise in life, but we must also bear in mind: we are the one in control of every situation. Try to see the better side on every part of it. Who knows, we might be surprised at how much of an impact a little smile can make!

Why don’t we smile more? And just like Mona Lisa let’s conquer the world and make stories throughout the history.  Let us try and learn how to do it! Let us experience magic!

With the development of intra-oral cameras, digital x-rays and in-office crowns, and computer imaging software, dentists are able to help you visualize how your smile could be transformed. Many procedures can be done to improve your smile. Some are included in the following lists:

  • Tooth whitening
  • Composite fillings / Bonding
  • Dental veneers
  • Crowns and bridges

  • Full mouth reconstruction

Tooth whitening

One of the fastest, least invasive ways of changing your smile is to have your teeth whitened. Tooth enamel, over time, becomes stained due to pigments that pass into the mouth from things like coffee, tea, wine, and smoking. Because of this, as we age teeth naturally become yellowish. Tooth whitening chemically involves removing these stains with either in-office procedures or take-home kits. And presto, your smile is brightened!

Bonding

Composite fillings, or "bonding",  are white fillings made of a hard and durable resin material. This material comes in various shades which allow a dentist to match an individual's tooth enamel coloring. Bonding is one of the most cost-effective esthetic treatment options

Dental veneers

For individuals with teeth that have deeper stains, crowding or spacing, dental veneers are often a good option. They involve preparing a small amount of the front of the tooth in order to bond on a porcelain veneer of appropriate size, shape and color. Veneers are one of the quickest and least invasive ways of dramatically improving one's smile.
